Wow! Nobody?
Yeah... it seems these type of drivers were not that popular... Any rate I bought them and tried them out... personally I felt the scans 10F sounded better I didn’t really like them tbh.. others may have had other experiences and opinions Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
They make great stuff so I would expect great results... but yea not many people use them
The klippel test on theme looked pretty bad there on here check it out low xmax even for a midrange
Elektra said: Hi Guys Has anyone used these mids? And how would you rate them compared to other mids There isn't much in the way of Internet reviews so if you guys have heard them or owned them I would love to hear from you.. Cheers View attachment 144314 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Click to expand...
Size does matter in a car when u want to cross the midrange be for beaming so u have an even power response sure a 4in can play to 8k but the off axis response will start to fall around 3k making things a lot more difficult it's all a trade off big mid needs big tweeter small mid small tweeter but I still stand by my statement for the money not worth it scan 10f much better polar response and all around performer
My opinion is from my one experience with several different tunes and demo’s in the above car.. Absolutely musical and capable little mids. They are astonishingly nice. The thesis speaker line are the single line of products I’d ever be interested in from Audison. If you pinned me down and said I have to pick an Audison product, gimme these thesis drivers and thanks. That said, I wonder about the Voce or the similar highest line of Hertz branded drivers. Mille’s I’ve heard before were nice also, but I give the nod to thesis. But I will add a caveat. On the last iteration of the above BRZ, the guys decided to make some use of what these mids can do up top, and extended their low pass up a bit. In this car, the result of that and many other changes, was astonishing and all drivers disappeared more than I’ve heard before. Point being, the tune, in the end, is critical. With these drivers though, you can know that the real challenge will be bettering the tune well before you tap out what these drivers can do. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
Like babs....I have to vouch for the capability of these lil audisons in bertholomey's car. I've been in the brz for many a demo, and can honestly say they are a very, very capable midrange driver.....better than this or that, who's to say, everyone has an opinion.....I just know when tuned well, they can flat sing....
I tried both in the same setup the 10F had a much clearer and defined midrange compared to bland sounding Thesis speakers The difference was huge... For me Audison make better amps than speakers... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Like I said in the above quoted post, everyone has an opinion, and you have obviously formed yours. I have no desire to change yours, and you don't have the capability to change mine, just want anyone reading this to know, yes this driver can play rather exceptionally when tuned well, better than the 10f......once again, who's to say, I've heard that driver sing as well as sound like warmed over ****, depending on the talent of the tuner....your opinion on a direct comparison is yours to make, just know the capability is there......
True - at the end of the day I don’t have the drivers anymore and probably won’t buy them again in the near future... FWIW - I think these speakers sound better when working together with the same tweeter... Regarding talent - there isn’t much talent required to test and listen with a 12db slope and crossing them correctly with correct level matching and using the same settings for the 10F side by side the 10F did sound better to me. Other opinions may vary... that’s just my 2c from previous ownership.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Actually had planned a 10F D3004 setup but opted for frogs due to space. The flange on the 10F and couldn’t decide on a grill solution, but sonically yeah the 10F is a darling and favorite among a lot of folks. Speakers are as subjective as dinner choices: barbecue vs Tex-Mex. luckily what choices we have now though. Yay! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Personal preference and tastes play a huge part in this hobby, fo sho. While I argued that the thesis is a capable driver, of course the 10f is a well designed piece too. I would never voice to you that your opinion is wrong, or mislead, in your preference of the scan. While in today's world of powerful processing, we typically look for drivers that perform within their designed parameters well, with the final "voicing" eq'd to our liking....that being said, there can still be certain "traits" derived from the drivers design that appeal to us, and can linger after tuning, to cause us to prefer a certain design. So no one's opinion is wrong on preference, I just know the audison can hold its own from a performance perspective.
I own both the thesis and the 10f... Not to plug my thesis that I currently have for sale but its really simple... The 10f is a very detailed full range driver but the thesis is a true midrange driver... I could not cross my 10f lower than maybe 400 or 350 without a lott of breakup... But I could cross it as high as 6k to 10k... The thesis on the other hand I could cross it as low is 250 but on the upper midrange no higher than 5k to 6k... Soooo what's the big deal.... lower vocals... Realism... Warmth... From a 3 inch mid... That's hard to come by honestly... I would compare the thesis to the scan 12m just smaller... Just depends on what you are looking for... If you want lower vocals on the dash... Then the thesis is gets the job done...
That’s quite strange... the FS of the 10F is 96hz and the Thesis is in the 190’s If you practice logic the 10f should play at 250hz a lot better than the Thesis would? My brother used the 10f and was crossing them a 250hz but I think he played around the 250-400hz same as the Thesis when testing I found the Thesis to be boring - in comparison the 10f was lively and had a sparkle to it couple it with the right tweeter and it would make for a interesting set.. Thesis gets the job done like most midranges do whether it’s worth the price when compared something like a Scan I would think I would look around for other options before I drop cash into something like that. Most systems that I have heard that have either the 10f or small 3 inch mid are lacking in the 400 to 250Hz range... The thesis fill this range quite nicely with good output...
How does the 2 way Thesis set sound? I'm a sucker for pleated surrounds
I think you bring up a good point. Apparently Audison has dropped the 3" mid range moving forward - maybe for the reasons Electra stated, or that a few of the higher end brands appear to be marketing 2-way sets with a tweeter that can play lower and a mid bass that can reach a little higher. I recently updated the Violino tweeters from V1 to V2, and I liked the difference - not just with aesthetics. I'm not going to update to the new Sax mid bass driver, but it would be interesting to see / hear the difference from V1.
Don't get crazyyy... They need a midbass to anchor them...

1) about ODR/pioneer. the Thesis is better than the TS-s062- PRS and more dynamic than the Ts-s101 PRS .The TS-s062 can be use without tweeter ,that it is not the case for the Voce. The Voce handles more power too. All the PRS are like a full range speaker, if you do not need a tweeter take them.
