‘Takkar’ movie review: A fantastic Siddharth gets wasted in this middling mishmash of action and romance

What could have been like one of those good 90-minute hollywood action films gets reduced to a meaningless, forgettable affair, and the annoying attempts at comedy are added blows.

Have you seen those 90-minute Hollywood action flicks where a seemingly simple hero takes on an antagonist (mostly a mafia boss), the stakes are limited, there is enough budget for a few explosions and car crashes, and the script gives you the satisfaction of familiarity with few subversions?

If you are someone who likes that flavour, you might be doubly disappointed with Takkar as you would realise that Karthik G Krish had ample space, scope, and resources to pull off one such movie. And oh, the film also attempts to create a Gus Fring-ish villain; if Los Pollos Hermanos was the Breaking Bad baddie’s front for illegal activities, in Takkar , a Korean man who is always on the Upward Lotus Pose has a taxi company where a scratch on the expensive BMW will be paid back with a scratch on the driver’s body.

On the contrary, after this two-hour movie, one wonders if it’d have been better had it taken more time to realise itself. Takkar , Karthik’s debut feature effort, has an intriguing set of things assimilating as the set-up, they lead to a peculiar conflict, and we even get an impressive pre-climax. To top it off, we have a terrific Siddharth giving his A-game. However, everything in between is a mess.

Takkar (Tamil)

“Mayir-la kuda panakkaara mayir-ku dhan madhippu.”....“Kovapadradhu nalladhu dhan, aana kovapadradhukkum thagudhi venum.” These are two of the many lessons that Gunashekar a.k.a Guns (Siddharth), a young man from an underprivileged rural background, is forced to learn in following the normal, ethical route to ascend the social ladder. As he struggles to find his place in a new city, he questions if self-esteem and self-respect are the prices to pay for wealth in this world. He joins the cab company of the aforementioned Korean man as at least he gets to drive around BMWs and Mercedes.

Have you ever wondered what you’d do if you come across a bag full of money somewhere? Guns, having been pushed to the edge of life, chooses to go all Ryan Gosling’s Driver when one such opportunity comes his way, only to be sent back flying once again. Guns would soon realise that when life pushes you to a corner, the only way is forward. Through a well-staged and impressive choreographed action sequence, Guns realises that he can fight back if he chooses to and that he has been having an action hero within him all this while. But the result puts him in the crosshairs with a bunch of women traffickers who have kidnapped Mahalakshmi a.k.a Lucky (Divyansha Kaushik).

Guns inadvertently rescues Lucky, and we realise that they are both in similar circumstances. They are both castaway from normal life and they have no hope or wish to go back to their lives; as Lucky says, if the kidnappers are selling her to many men, her own father, a rich brat businessman, wants to sell her to a man by marriage for a good business deal. Lucky’s father, the Korean cabbie company baddie, the henchmen of the human traffickers search for the two who are wandering, seeking pleasure in the nomadic, in-the-moment hippie life. There’s also a hint of sexual tension between Lucky and Guns.

Throughout Takkar , you get the feel as if this is a criminally reduced cut of a bigger movie because nothing really sustains — except for the annoying comedy by Yogi Babu and RJ Vigneshkanth. We get the idea of what the writer in Karthik, along with story writer Shrinivas Kaviinayam, is going for but it never really comes together on screen. Interspersing the whole cat-and-mouse game with meaningless comedy scenes and passable song sequences makes it a duller affair.

Divyansha Kaushik and Kaushik in a still from ‘Takkar’

Divyansha Kaushik and Kaushik in a still from ‘Takkar’ | Photo Credit: Special Arrangement

The biggest mystery of the film, meanwhile, is the character of Lucky. She comes across as a placard out of the script, etched with words and ideas, but never as a real human. For instance, we don’t know enough about why she likes Guns in the first place and what she’s been thinking the whole time. After all, this is a man who called her ‘an accidental trophy’. For someone who speaks of wanting freedom and challenges the limitations of modern-day relationship structures, the institution of marriage, and the necessity to put a tag on everything, why does she choose what Guns proposes? A line about how she sees her mother in him undoes everything we thought about her.

The writing is so contrived and the screenplay meanders into some utterly boring scenes that nothing helps in shaking you away from an issue you felt in the first half; it’s like a hole in a fabric that you keep fidgeting with. Right at the beginning, there’s a scene where Guns drops Lucky at her home. After a horrible date, she is seated in the back wearing a gorgeous dress. However, for some reason, her chest is blurred throughout the ride. If this was done for the film to get a U/A certificate, you wonder what issues the Censor board might have had. If they are progressive enough to retain a kissing scene and the discussions about sex, what’s the deal with a woman wearing a dress she likes?

On the flip side, this is also the same film in which we have a sensible hero playing a character who, being stuck in the middle of nowhere, wears his female friend’s clothes and lets her apply make-up on him. It’s commendable on Siddharth’s part to have shown how a man, or a “hero”, with a secure masculinity would find no “shame” in dressing up or putting on make-up. And Siddharth as Guns is truly the biggest takeaway from the film. He fits the bill and steals all eyeballs so much so that you wish to see him in an adrenaline-pumping action movie. But for all that he has given it, you wish Takkar had more than a good one-liner.

Takkar Movie Review: Siddharth Navigates A Forgettable Drama On Unattainable Dreams

Director: Karthik G Krish

Cast: Siddharth, Yogi Babu, Divyansha, Abimanyu Singh, Munishkanth, RJ Vigneshkanth

Who doesn’t love a good Tamil movie hero who just can’t catch a break? The vulnerable underdog who moves to a new city in the hopes of making it big might be a bit of a trope, but when done well, even a familiar trope becomes exceptionally enjoyable. Takkar reminded me of Lokesh Kanagaraj ’s Maanagaram , and its delicious take on fate in many ways. It has the bitterest (and an earnest) Siddharth you’ll ever see play Gunasekar, an exasperated man who moves to Chennai to make some money. An abduction is involved, a whole lot of hooligans too come attached with the deal and our hero finally learns the meaning of courage during a moment of utter defeat. But this metamorphosis — an integral part of both movies — ends up taking Takkar into a tawdry route.

Gunasekar is a modern take on the bitter angry young man who hates the universe and its warped patterns. And his frustrations are relatable. He is not just any other angry young man, but a self-respecting one with anger issues that he’s quite proud of. “ Kovapadardhu nalla gunam, ” he tells his mother, as he tosses away his plate of food, launching into a tirade about why he deserves to be rich. In the next scene, he lands in Chennai and picks up odd jobs— ranging from a gym trainer to an extra on a film set — to make a quick buck. Whether his anger gets in the way of success or not, his dignity does. His friend explains his ambitions in succinct words: Avanuku “instant panakkaran” aaganum . Gunasekar’s desperation finally forces him to rent a Mercedes from a dangerous Chinese man, and dials his desires back. He ends up chauffeuring the rich even if he can’t be in the backseat.

Fate has a way of sticking its head out in the most delirious moments in Gunasekar’s life. In the middle of a ride, he crosses paths with two notorious smugglers, who tell him to chauffeur them to safety in exchange for ₹50 lakhs. Torn between doing the right thing and the absolutely despicable, Gunasekar picks the latter and indulges in a Need-For-Speed -esque car chase with the cops in the middle of peak Chennai traffic, despair and greed bulging out of his eyes.

We all can anticipate how this might end, but Siddharth takes this gutting scene and makes it his own. It is in scenes like these that we see a glimpse of what Takkar could’ve been. In another sequence, a now truly defeated Gunasekar, whose life has gone up in flames, makes his way to a dangerous alley, with a death wish. It is here that he finds his life’s purpose, with one Mercedes leading him to another, reversing his rough streak with destiny. It is also here that the film flips the last fragment of potential that it seemed to have.

In its second half, Gunasekar navigates his complicated relationship with money and destiny through Lucky (Divyansha Kaushik), a woman, which the film compares to “a trophy for winning the game of life.” The film wants us to believe that Lucky is not your ideal “ loosu ponnu ” . She schools Gunasekar about feminism, normalises sex and loveless relationships and speaks her mind. At the same time, she randomly breaks into a kuththu dance while seated in a car, laughs at kites and isn’t afraid to use offensive remarks to identify people who don’t look like her. Now, you go figure if she’s a loosu ponnu or a contemporary Kannagi. Even if their chemistry is decent enough to keep a romance going, the issue with Takkar is not being able to ground its characters with anything solid. Gunasekar very proudly tells Lucky that his mother is his most favourite person in the world. But the only scene where we see them together is the one that involves the vigorous plate swinging.

The same goes with his friendship with Vigneshkanth. For some reason, Takkar finds a bizarre need to break the tension of every scene with an exhausting comedy track powered by an even exhausted Yogi Babu, who is way too competent to be deprecating himself in the name of humour. At one point, when Maanagaram breakout star Munishkanth joins in on an infuriating subplot about an abduction gone wrong, it leaves us daydreaming about the film Takkar could’ve been.

Takkar Movie Review: Siddharth's film is absurdity at its best

Director karthik g krish's takkar is an outdated commercial entertainer featuring siddharth, divyansha kaushik and abhimanyu singh. the screenplay will test your patience, says our review..

Listen to Story

Siddharth's Takkar released in theatres on June 9.

  • Takkar released in theatres on June 9.
  • The film is directed by Karthik G Krish.
  • Siddharth, Divyansha Kaushik and Abhimanu Singh play lead roles.

Release Date: 9 Jun, 2023

Siddharth, a man of many talents, promised that Takkar will mark his arrival as a full-fledged commercial hero. The film, which has been lying in the cans for a while now, finally saw the light of the day on June 9. As Siddharth claimed, was the film impressive? Let’s find out!

Gunz AKA Gunasekhar (Siddharth) is a helpless youngster who wants to become rich. He travels to Chennai and takes up different jobs to achieve his dream. In most of his jobs, he was disrespected, which made him work for a taxi service as a cab driver. Meanwhile, there is Lucky AKA Mahalakshmi (Divyansha Kaushik) who thinks that money is the root cause of misery.

Also, there is the villain, Raza (Abhimanyu Singh), and his gang, who are involved in human trafficking, smuggling and all anti-social activities. At one point in time, their lives get intertwined, which makes everyone run towards their goal.

Takkar is a film that should have come out in the 2000s. Director Karthik G Krish’s story is so redundant that you could guess every single plot twist miles ahead of its arrival. The film is silly and absurd on so many levels that every sequence ends up being unintentionally funny. There’s an entire stretch involving Yogi Babu meeting his gangster father. While the dialogues are supposed to be funny, you don’t laugh at the jokes, you laugh at the silliness unfolding on screen.

We are in 2023 and directors like Karthik G Krish still rely on calling Yogi Babu monkey face, donkey face and buffalo face. The film also features a bunch of Chinese people, who are called Gurkha boys by the actress. Forget political correctness, why can’t filmmakers stay away from such name-calling?

Takkar also falls under the category – it’s so bad that it’s good! The film has a romantic angle that screams weird. Siddharth and Divyansha have different takes on love. Both of them want to prove a point to each other. And guess what they do! They book a motel to have sex and voila! The heroine falls in love with the hero because he irons her clothes, picks up the comb she accidentally drops and opens the car door for her.

Siddharth tried his best to shoulder the film. But, despite his serious face and myriad expressions, one just cannot take anything seriously in the film. The villain and his gang are so stupid that you would want to smack them in their head, asking them to be at least slightly deadly. But no! That’s too high of an expectation for a film like Takkar.

Divyansha Kaushik is an eye candy in the film. She is given some interesting dialogues about feminism and patriarchy. But, these statements do not make any sense as she plays a damsel in distress, who has to be saved by the hero at the end of the day.

Music by Nivas K Prasanna was jarring to the ears, especially during the emotional sequences. The viral Nira song, however, was picturised well by cinematographer Vanchinathan Murugesan.

Takkar is a film that will continue to test your patience every now and then. Its silliness and absurdity will blow your mind.

Takkar Movie Review (2023)

Karthik G Krish's 'Takkar' is filled with good ideas, but none of them are fleshed out convincingly

Takkar Movie Review

Takkar Movie Cast & Crew

I'll give Karthik G Krish this much: he is a director with ideas. Take the stretch where a man has to hand over the woman he loves to a bunch of gangsters, because they have a gun on his best friend's head. Later, when all works out and the man attempts to reclaim his woman, she refuses. She says he should have thought of her safety first. He says, "I've known my best friend for 25 years." She replies, "So I'll have to wait for 25 years before I know you'll think of  me  first?" It's a snappy line, and a great thought. She is really mad, because she has guarded herself against men and the one man she let her guard down with has done this to her. At this point, we need the writing to take this girl from "all men are the same" to "yes, this man did something shitty, but he is indeed different." And that, the writing never does. The closure to this dilemma is silly to the point of being insulting.

That's  Takkar  for you. It's filled with good ideas that are executed badly, either because of the writing or the performances. The casting is terrible. Abhimanyu Singh (the villain) and Divyansha Kaushik (the heroine), particularly, are fishes out of this water. Only Siddharth slips comfortably into his character's skin. The film is being sold as an action movie, but it's a lot more. The Siddharth character, a somewhat angry young man named Gunasekaran, is sick of being poor. He wants money, lots of it. The heroine, named Lucky, is super-rich, and also super-tired of the men who want her only because of her riches. That's a solid idea for a drama, but it is squandered because the film cannot make up its mind whether to flavour this drama with action or romance or comedy. Speaking of comedy, there's, again, a great idea about a red car and a green car, but the running-gag potential is never realised.

The writing, at one point, involves a pink teddy bear because… I don't even want to think about it.  Takkar  could have been a good road movie built on the holy pillars of commercial cinema: action, comedy, and romance. But the messy film ends up all over the place. You look at the basic idea and say "nice", but nothing is fleshed out with any kind of conviction. When you hear of Yogi Babu as a wannabe, Mumbai-based gangster who has come to Chennai for gangster-training, the idea is automatically funny. But every scene involving the comedian is spectacularly unfunny.  Takkar  is a classic case of something that must have sounded good during narration. It must have sounded so wacky, so different for a "commercial film". But the way it's been pulled off is painful. Siddharth may be getting the blows, but we end up being bruised.

Takkar Movie Review:  Erratic tonal shifts bulldoze this almost-there romance

Takkar loosely translates to awesome, but it has very less relevance to Karthik G Krish's sophomore film, which narrates the story of two losers running for and away from life. While Gunasekaran (a) Guns is chased by poverty, helplessness, and a Chinese gang, Mahalakshmi (a) Lucky is hunted by emptiness and a gang of kidnappers. Considering the complexities surrounding each of them, titling the film Makkar perhaps would have made more sense. Their paths converge only close to the interval marking the beginning of the better part of the film.

Cast:  Siddharth, Divyansha Kaushik, Abhimanyu Singh, RJ Vigneshkanth Director: Karthik G Krish

Until then, the focus is majorly on the series of unfortunate events in the life of Gunasekaran. Starting from getting a messy beard trim from a distracted hairdresser to getting almost killed by a violent boss who cusses him to eat crap, quite literally, Guns only goes through the worst of the worst, day after day. Ideally, whenever a protagonist goes through such hardships in a masala entertainer, we know a cathartic elevation is on the way. Director Karthik plants a similar sequence in Takkar , where Siddharth's Guns enters a den of gangsters. He aims to create gratifying, whistle-worthy moments with this stretch, but they fall flat due to the shallow writing. The preceding shaming episodes of Guns are so ruthless that we needed something extraordinary in the transformation scene to compensate for it. But, alas! The tonal shifts, which were minor inconveniences till then, start becoming major roadblocks and prevent us from even remotely connecting with the film.

On several occasions, Takkar reminds us of other films with similar plot points like 10 Endrathukulla , Jiivi and Paiyaa . But here, lack of novelty isn't our primary concern as Karthik keeps us squirming with incessant, sub-standard attempts at comedy. For the nth time, Yogi Babu gets body shamed in the guise of humour, and Abhimanyu Singh tries to channelise his inner Goundamani and beats up his sidekicks even for the simplest of all reasons. Munishkanth makes a forgettable cameo only to deliver a slew of random counters, and none of these evoke an iota of laughter. But what actually leaves the audience in splits was a rather serious dialogue Lucky delivers post her breakup to a chauffeur: "I have changed my keep, you can keep my change."

In the final act, the film enters into serious territory, where the emotions and performances are on point and we are almost convinced that this stretch can make up for the unamusing parts. But Karthik's urge to infuse humour kicks in and we get a 'comical' exchange between a main character who is held hostage and Guns who can save him. In the very next scene, we see the character being stripped and tortured, and by this point, it becomes impossible to stomach the multiple personality disorder of the screenplay by then.

The saving graces of the film have to be the earnest performances of the lead pair. Apart from being good-looking, Siddharth and Divyansha are compelling and they share a great chemistry on-screen. Though it's almost love at first sight, they sell their 'it's complicated' quite effectively and we really wish that the film just stuck to their romance without any side tracks.

Divyansha's expressions and lip-sync game are on point and she aces the role as the mysterious girl recovering from bad parenting. Incidentally, she played a similar role in Michael , and I just hope she doesn't get trapped in this stereotype. As I walked out of the hall I felt bad for the lead actors as their efforts go for a toss because of the haphazard writing. They certainly deserved better, and so do we.

Takkar review: Yet another run-of-the-mill romantic drama

Director Karthik G Krish's film is nothing but the same-old story of a rich girl falling madly in love with a poor boy.

Insipid and boring!

Takkar (Tamil)

  • Cast: Siddharth, Yogi Babu, Divyansha, Abimanyu Singh, Munishkanth, and RJ Vigneshkanth
  • Director:  Karthik G Krish
  • Producers: Sudhan Sundaram and G Jayaram
  • Music: Nivas K Prasanna
  • Duration: 2 hours 10 minutes
  • Cast: Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Emraan Hashmi, and Revathy
  • Director: Maneesh Sharma
  • Producer: Aditya Chopra
  • Music: Pritam Chakraborty
  • Runtime: 2 hours 35 minutes

Director Karthik G Krish’s Takkar (Clash/Conflict), which can mean different things in different languages, is a commercial entertainer that hardly entertains.

The film is a mix of everything, yet nothing comes through.

The “modern” love story revolves around a rich feminist Mahalakshmi aka Lucky (Divyansha) — who has no faith in love and men — and a poor chauffeur named Gunasekhar alias Guna (Siddharth) who works in a firm renting out luxury cars.

Guna’s ambition is to get rich but his Achilles’ Heel is his fear as a result of which he is unable to hit back at those often assaulting him.

Siddharth Takkar

Takkar is about the transformation that both the lead characters undergo.

Guna finds a way to overcome his fear and hit back at his opponents. He also realises that happiness and money are two independent entities and that one doesn’t need money to be happy.

Lucky initially has a very negative opinion of men and marriage, thanks to her dad (director Arun Vaidhyanathan) and the man her dad is trying to get her married to. But eventually, she falls in love.

How both these characters influence one another and bring about a change in their belief systems is what Takkar is all about.

Weak points.

takkar tamil

A poster of ‘Takkar’. (Twitter)

The problem with Takkar is that its plot lacks credibility. It does not have anything substantial to offer to you as a viewer and everything in it comes across as being either artificial, exaggerated or superfluous.

The makers — in the hope of delivering a commercial entertainer with a good measure of action, romance and comedy — have ended up delivering a film that serves neither of the three in a convincing manner.

The action sequences, like in quite a few other commercial films, seem to have forcefully fit into the plot to raise the stature of the hero’s character in the film.

The romantic portions, for the most part, appear to be of a transactional nature.

The comedy, which is served to viewers primarily through Yogi Babu’s character, hardly works.

The makers don’t seem to have realised that in their urge to present a story that is substantially different, they have eventually gone a full circle and ended up taking the road often taken.

In other words, Takkar is the same-old story of a rich girl falling madly in love with a poor boy.

Performances.

The film has some decent performances coming from its lead pair —Siddharth and Divyansha.

Bollywood actor Abimanyu Singh, as the leader of a kidnapping gang, also does his bit.

But despite all of this, Takkar comes across as an insipid, boring, exaggerated run-of-the-mill romantic drama.

Takkar Review: Lousy and Boring

Takkar Review: Lousy and Boring

Movie: Takkar Rating: 1/5 Banner: People Media Factory, Abhishek Agarwal Arts Cast: Siddharth, Divyansha, Abhimanyu Singh, Yogi Babu, Munishkanth, RJ Vigneshkanth and others Dialogues: Hanu Ravuri Music: Nivas K Prasanna Director of Photography: Vanchinathan Editor: GA Gowtham Art Director: Udaya Kumar K Stunts Co-Producer: Vivek Kuchibotla Producers: TG Vishwaprasad, Abhishek Agarwal Written and Directed by: Karthik G Krish Release Date: June 09, 2023

Siddharth has been attempting to break away from his lover-boy image. He claimed that he would establish a new image with "Takkar." The film's release in Telugu by not just one, but two major Tollywood production houses generated curiosity.

Let's assess its strengths and weaknesses.

Story: Gunasekhar (Siddharth) harbors aspirations of becoming wealthy. He arrives in Vizag in search of stable employment but faces humiliation while doing odd jobs. Eventually, he secures a well-paying and respectable position as a cab driver.

Meanwhile, Gunasekhar develops feelings for Lucky (Divyansha Kaushik), a super-rich girl who has grown weary of her affluent lifestyle. Lucky also claims to be a feminist. However, her life takes a turn when she is kidnapped by a mafia gang seeking ransom from her father, and she is confined in the car's trunk.

Coincidentally, Gunasekhar encounters the same mafia gang and, after a brief altercation, manages to steal the car with Lucky trapped inside. Thus begins the journey of Gunasekhar and Lucky as they attempt to escape the clutches of the mafia gang. Will their time on the run lead to love blossoming between them?

Artistes’ Performances: Siddharth looks the same as he always does, with the exception of his beard style. He has the same boyish charm, despite his attempts to be a "mass hero." He appears completely unfit for the role.

Divyansha Kaushik's role is poorly written, but she is the film's best looking aspect because she is charming and provides some eye candy while the proceedings are dull and boring.

Yogi Babu's comedy falls flat. As the villain, Abhimanyu Singh plays it in his usual manner.

Technical Excellence: The film has good production and technical value. The cinematography, in particular, is neat. The action stunts are ridiculous. The writing is awfully sloppy and incoherent. Other than one song, none of them work.

Highlights: Nothing

Drawback: Sloppy writing Poor direction and narrative skills Outdated comedy track Never ending runtime

Analysis In Hindi, "takkar" means "collusion." In Tamil, it commonly refers to winning a game in a direct fight. The hero in Siddharth's "Takkar" faces two challenges: fighting a mafia gang and engaging in a love game with the heroine. However, the film is not as simple as described.

"Takkar," directed by Karthik G Krish, is one of the messiest films we have seen in recent years. There is no coherence in the script or the hero's journey. Adding a mishmash of sequences and strange characters does not bring any novelty.

Siddharth plays a cab driver, and the cab (a Benz car) is owned by a Chinese-looking man who always speaks to Siddharth while performing Seershanam. There is no explanation for why these scenes are shown or the significance of this Chinese-looking man in the story.

Then there's the main villain, involved in human trafficking. He deals with international mafia leaders in one sequence, but in the next, he interacts with comedian Yogi Babu and acts like a buffoon for the entire second half.

Most films nowadays are a huge disappointment after the intermission. However, "Takkar" is sloppy from the beginning. It bores us to death in both halves of the film.

The road trip romance, with some daring scenes and songs, also falls flat. It is strange why People Media Factory and Abhishek Agarwal purchased the Telugu rights to this film. What prompted them to buy it?

Overall, "Takkar" is a lackluster effort. It is completely forgettable fare that will leave you with nothing but a headache. Watching "Takkar" will make you feel faint (chakkar).

Bottom line: Chakkar!

Takkar Twitter Review: Will Siddharth Give A Proper Comeback With This Romantic Action Film?

Takkar

Takkar Twitter Review: Siddharth starrer Takkar movie is directed by Karthik G Krish. Divyansha has acted opposite Siddharth in the film. The film Takker is slated to hit the screens today (June 9, 2023).

Chocoloate Boy To Rugged Boy

After Prashanth and Madhavan, known as chocolate boy in Tamil cinema, Siddharth is the most favorite hero for women. There is a separate crowd that enjoys Siddharth's voice rather than his performance. Siddharth has sung many songs in Tamil cinema so far. Siddharth's film Takkar is releasing in Tamil and Telugu after a long gap.

Takkar

The trailer of the film shows that Takkar is a stylish film full of action, comedy and romance. To everyone's surprise, Siddharth's look in this film is more like that of a rugged boy.

Takkar

Yogi Babu In Dual Role?

After watching the trailer, netizens say that Comedian Yogi Babu plays a dual role in the film. It is also said that this is the first film where he played a dual role. But some sources from film industry says that Yogibabu played the roles of father and son in Takkar movie only for a few minutes in a comedy scene and the film team is using it in the trailer to get some attraction. Let's wait and watch the film to know the truth about Yogi Babu's Dual Role.

Takkar

Niwas Prasanna has composed the music for the film. The film was supposed to release 2 years ago. But after facing many hurdles like Corona and Lockdown, Takkar movie is releasing in theaters today.

Even though Siddharth fans are eagerly waiting to witness him on screen in a complete new avatar, general audience doesn't show any interest in watching this film due to the long delay in the release. takkar movie review tamil

Now streaming on:

Director Julian Farino ’s “The Union” follows Mike ( Mark Wahlberg ), a construction worker content with his job, dive bar outings with his friends, and sleeping with his former seventh-grade teacher (an awkward joke that remains a punchline over the course of the film’s entirety). When his adolescent flame, Roxanne ( Halle Berry ) returns to the east coast after decades of no contact, what he thinks is a meet cute down memory lane turns into an international intelligence operation.

Hackers have accessed the personal information of all of the Western world’s government employees, from soldiers to cops and the FBI. Agent Roxanne and her cut-to-the-chase boss Tom (J.K. Simmons) are spearheading the mission to retrieve the hack to prevent it from getting in the wrong hands. Their titular organization, The Union, is a small, highly secretive agency within the government, akin to the operations of the CIA. They’re “an invisible army that keeps the world running,” an agency that looks for street-smart, blue collar individuals who fly under the radar. Kidnapping Mike from New Jersey to London, Roxanne enlists his help for this high-stakes assignment for one sole reason: “He’s a nobody.” It’s a flimsy premise that precedes an equally thin film.

There’s no driving force when it comes to the characters. We suspend disbelief that Mike would be remotely interested in this life-threatening operation for which he has no true technical skills solely out of nostalgic romance and maybe a hint of patriotic duty (the latter of which is not far off but assumed more for Wahlberg’s habitual social sentiments than anything in-script). On paper, the plot seems to be the sole consideration of the film, while character development and world-building this criminal underbelly falls to the wayside.

Everything about “The Union” is painstakingly familiar. Wahlberg kicks back and lounges comfortably in his habitual role: a laid back, kinda cocky east coaster who juggles punchlines and machismo. Berry, who is fully capable of being a compelling action star, (most recently in the third installment of the John Wick franchise), attempts her best with the film’s shoddy script. “The Union” hits bullet points on its outline with an overwhelming sense of tired obligation and stunted creativity. Its leads have no chemistry and being that their will-they-won’t-they serves as the story’s main attempt at depth, the emotive capabilities of the film sputter and shut down.

“The Union” delivers tonal whiplash on account of its failure to exceed at either end of its genre attempt at action-comedy. The action is mostly unremarkable, with a few key set pieces that pump the pace, but ultimately neglect to put anything exciting on display. Rebounds of exposition and non-committal world building fudge the film’s flow, making the 105-minute runtime feel like a fight to the finish.

Its ham-fisted comedic attempts incite semi-indignant smirks and exasperated chuckles rather than genuine, inspired laughter. Most of the jokes hit with the punch of a half-deflated whoopee cushion, and the sneaking feeling that the script was written on the basis of cheap laughs creeps further up your back as the minutes tick on. “The Union” is unspecial and unengaging. It lacks charm and excitement, clutching to simplicity and a lazy script that relies on star power that’s not bright enough to save it.
