I Love You Idiot Movie Review: ప్ర‌స్తుతం తెలుగులో మోస్ట్ బిజీయోస్ట్ హీరోయిన్‌గా కొన‌సాగుతోంది శ్రీలీల‌ (Sreeleela). పెళ్లి సంద‌డితో టాలీవుడ్‌లోకి ఎంట్రీ ఇచ్చిన ఆమె ఎనిమిది సినిమాల్లో న‌టిస్తోంది. టాలీవుడ్ కంటే ముందు క‌న్న‌డంలో కిస్ అనే సినిమా చేసింది.

నందిని అల్ల‌రి...

నందిని (శ్రీలీల‌) ఆర్కిటెక్చ‌ర్ స్టూడెంట్‌. ఎప్పుడూ ప‌గ‌టి క‌ల‌ల్లో మునిగితేలుతుంటుంది. కాలేజీ ప్రిన్సిపాల్‌పై కోపంతో నందిని చేసిన ఓ ప‌ని కార‌ణంగా అర్జున్ (విరాట్‌) అనే డ‌బ్బున్న యువకుడి కాస్ట్‌లీ కారు డ్యామేజీ అవుతుంది. ఆ కారు రిపేర్‌కు డ‌బ్బులు చెల్లించ‌డానికి బ‌దులు అర్జున్ ద‌గ్గ‌ర 72 రోజుల పాటు అసిస్టెంట్‌గా ప‌నిచేయ‌డానికి సిద్ధ‌ప‌డుతుంది నందిని.

తొలుత అర్జున్‌ను ద్వేషించిన నందిని అత‌డి మంచిత‌నాన్ని గ్ర‌హించి ఇష్ట‌ప‌డుతుంది. త‌న ప్రేమ‌ను అత‌డికి వ్య‌క్తం చేయాల‌ని అనుకుంటుంది. అర్జున్ త‌న‌ను ప్రేమించ‌డం లేద‌ని తెలుసుకొని ఆ మాట చెప్ప‌కుండానే అత‌డి నుంచి దూరంగా వెళ్లిపోతుంది. నందిని దూర‌మైన త‌ర్వాతే ఆమె ప్రేమ విలువ అర్జున్‌కు అర్థ‌మ‌వుతుంది.

ఐ ల‌వ్ యూ ఇడియ‌ట్ (I Love You Idiot Movie Review)అలాంటి క‌థే. ఓ జంట ప్రేమ‌ప్ర‌యాణానికి ఫ‌న్‌, ఎమోష‌న్స్ జోడిస్తూ ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు ఏపీ అర్జున్ ఈ సినిమాను తెర‌కెక్కించారు. ఫ‌స్ట్ హాఫ్ హీరోయిన్ పాయింట్ ఆఫ్ వ్యూ నుంచి ల‌వ్‌స్టోరీ సాగితే ద్వితీయార్థంలో మాత్రం హీరో కోణం నుంచి ల‌వ్ స్టోరీ న‌డుస్తుంది. ఒక‌రి ప్రేమ కోసం మ‌రొక‌రు ఎలా త‌పించారు? త‌మ ప్రేమ‌ను ఎలా గెలిపించుకున్నార‌న్న‌దే ఈ సినిమాలోని మెయిన్ పాయింట్‌.

ప్రేమ‌క‌థ‌ల‌న్నీ దాదాపు ఒకే పాయింట్‌తో సాగుతాయి. వాటిని వెండితెర‌పై ఆవిష్క‌రించే తీరు కొత్త‌గా ఉన్న‌ప్పుడే ఈ ల‌వ్‌స్టోరీస్ ప్రేక్ష‌కుల్ని మెప్పిస్తాయి. ఐ ల‌వ్ యూ ఇడియ‌ట్‌లో హీరోహీరోయిన్లు విరాట్‌, శ్రీలీల జోడీ బాగుంది. వారి కెమిస్ట్రీ బాగా కుదిరింది.

వారి ల‌వ్ స్టోరీలోని ఫ‌న్ కొన్ని చోట్ల వ‌ర్క‌వుట్ అయినా క‌థ‌లోని మెయిన్ కాన్‌ఫ్లిక్ట్‌లో విష‌యం లేదు. నాయ‌కానాయిక‌లు విడిపోవ‌డానికి గ‌ల కార‌ణాలు సిల్లీగా ఉంటాయి. నందిని ప్రేమ‌ను సొంతం చేసుకునేందుకు అర్జున్ చేసే ప్ర‌య‌త్నాలు సోల్ మిస్స‌య్యింది. డైలీ సీరియ‌ల్‌గా సాగ‌దీస్తూనే వెళ్లాడు డైరెక్ట‌ర్‌.

శ్రీలీల ప్ల‌స్‌...

అల్ల‌రి మ‌న‌స్త‌త్వం క‌లిగిన అమ్మాయిగా శ్రీలీల త‌న అందంతో ఫుల్ మార్కులు కొట్టేసింది. ఈ సినిమాలో అంద‌రికంటే ఎక్కువ‌గా శ్రీలీల పాత్ర ప్రేక్ష‌కుల్ని అట్రాక్ట్ చేస్తుంది. విరాట్ యాక్టింగ్‌లో నాచురాలిటీ లేదు. కామెడీ వ‌ర‌కు బాగానే చేసిన ఎమోష‌న‌ల్ సీన్స్‌లో పూర్తిగా తేలిపోయాడు. ఈ ఇద్ద‌రి త‌ప్ప మిగిలిన క్యారెక్ట‌ర్స్ అలా వ‌చ్చి ఇలా వెళ్లిపోతాయి.

Upendra and R Chandru have united again for bilingual, I Love You, after their much-hyped Brahma. It is a romantic drama which has Rachita Ram and Sonu Gowda playing the female leads.

Ravi Kale, Sayaji Shinde, Jai Jagadish and many others are part of the supporting cast. The film has Dr. Kiran Thotambyle's music, Sugnan's cinematography and Deepu S Kumar's editing.

Story: The movie is about the clash of philosophies on love. Santhosh does not believe in the concept of love. According to him, love is a mask to fulfil sexual desire. Contradictory to his views, Dharmika (Rachita Ram) believes that true love exists. Love is nothing but the union of emotions of two individuals. At some point they fall in love, but gets separated.

We are told that Santhosh is a businessman and married to a woman played by Sonu Gowda. What happens when he meets Dharmika years later is the crux of the story. 

R Chandru has come up with a story peppered with Uppi's trademark mannerism, pop philosophies and masala elements. The story has enough meat to be a good entertainer and a better screenplay would have made it a brilliant entertainer. Upendra shines, Rachita Ram is a surprise package, while Sonu Gowda has done a neat job.

Hype: I Love You has been publicised well by the makers. The controversy around the movie has turned out to be a boon as the movie has drawn the attention of the public towards the flick. Will it live up to the viewers' expectations? Check it out in their words below:

I Love You Movie Review: Upendra and Chandru Deliver A Perfect Weekend Entertainer

Director R. Chandru is back to his forte with yet another love story. This time, he has not teamed up with a chocolate boy, but instead, the real star of Kannada Cinema, which is set to offer some thrill, and experience.

Chandru is known for churning out good love stories while Upendra is loved for his typical philosophical dialogues, which he is famous for. Has the duo planned a combination of this for the audience?

Santhosh, a rich businessperson, is married to a typical traditional person (much to the wishes of his father) who is a dutiful wife and carries off her chores religiously. The couple has a daughter but Santhosh is not the right fit for an institution called marriage, as he seems least interested in the same. He happens to bump across Dharmika who happens to be his classmate and love interest during his college days. He has some feelings towards Dharmika in the present time and it is here the audience will have to see whether he gets connected to Dharmika back or stays loyal to his marriage.

Performances

Uppi is at his usual best. He is active, energetic, looks fit, young and renders a top-notch performance. It is always a treat to watch him mouth dialogues in his usual style. Rachitha Ram has a meaty character and she has utilized the opportunity to the level best. Sonu's performance, especially her body language wins it for her and the movie. Rest of them have done their respective jobs pretty well.

Technical Aspects

Chandru, as pressed earlier, is a master in making love stories and he has once again scored well with I Love You. The storyline, treatment of the story and allocating weightage to the characters are well worked out, which pretty much has done the trick for him. He is aided by Upendra's contribution in dialogues (which is known to the audience as Uppi's dialogues often linger in the ears of the audience).

Chandru and Upendra were sure that this movie would be a safe bet as it appeals to the young set of audience in particular and seems to be contented with the limited appeal. Dr. Kiran's music seems to be on the downside as the tunes aren't too catchy and doesn't justify the genre of a love story. The background music too appears gloomy.

Editing by Deepu and Cinematography by Sugnaan are good.

Final Verdict

I Love You comes in as a neat entertainer if you are a Upendra fan or like his style of movies. Chandru doesn't disappoint you if you are not expecting something crazy from the Uppi-Chandru combination.

I Love You Review: An Awkward Stalker Thriller

I Love You is a film that’s not nearly as awkward as my answer to the question: “What’s the name of that new Jio Cinema movie you’re reviewing this week?” My reaction time to clarify my intentions (“I mean, it’s the title”) has been lightning fast. But it’s still a tad shorter than the period it takes viewers to get that the opening shot of a woman holding her breath underwater is a sign of things to come. It’s almost like she’s practicing precisely because she suspects that she will soon find herself needing to hide at the bottom of a swimming pool. It’s a very specific skill, so let me amuse myself by imagining that perhaps the woman can see her future all along – and still chooses to let it happen so that she can respond with a witty “don’t hold your breath” in a sequel that will presumably be named I Love You 2 . Never mind that it’s also what I might say if someone tells me they’re planning to watch this film. 

But I digress. Nikhil Mahajan’s I Love You is the sort of thriller that doesn’t know where to go after its potent one-line setup. It features a slasher who’s a direct product of vintage-Bollywood stalker stories. He is a modern psychopath – the tech guy who has a knack for hidden cameras, hacking, spying and social-media stalking – with an old-school heart. His name, Rakesh Oberoi, is very 1990s, and he’s determined to summon the ‘one-sided love’ that Shah Rukh Khan made famous in that decade. The colleague he’s obsessed with is an independent and successful woman named Satya, perhaps an ode to Ram Gopal Varma ’s brand of cinema of which so many SRK fans (like myself) were secretly envious. In his cabin, he plays earworms from One 2 Ka 4 (2001) and Duplicate (1998), has a goldfish called Anjali, and sports ‘Palat’ and ‘Protagonist’ t-shirts. He reforms the Darr (1993) device of Rahul talking to giant photos of Kiran by projecting spy-cam footage of Satya onto his wall and pretending to be in a live-in relationship with her. (Kiran Kumar’s cameo is a nice nod to Anjaam (1994) and an Adnan Sami song adds to the retro flavour). He’s basically a Vicky Malhotra posing as an Ajay Sharma. 

At one point, well into the night of terror, the millennial creep who seems to be oblivious to Cancel Culture forces Satya to sing Darr ’s ‘Tu Mere Saamne’ with him in an impromptu Karaoke session. His little radio also has time for a few other classics: ‘Tu Hi Re’ (from Bombay, 1995), ‘Rooth Na Jaana’ (from 1942: A Love Story , 1994) and ‘Jumma Chumma De De’ (from Hum , 1991). Which is to say: Rakesh Oberoi is Kabir Singh with better manners and taste. The location gives a new meaning to the term ‘corporate slave’ as well, with Oberoi trapping Satya in an office building on a Diwali (holiday) weekend. While the presence of cellphones and technology has made it harder to script plausible horror and murder mysteries, the stalker movie is the one genre that’s gained from this influx of modernity. So the premise is not without its merits. 

The problem with I Love You – unlike, say, Fan (2016) or even Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein (2022) – is that the anti-hero remains a gimmick in what becomes a painfully predictable slasher flick. There are no big twists, no psychological depth, and the last-gasp feminism feels forced. It’s barely a commentary on misguided movie masculinity, forget the parasocial love triangle between fans, films and life. A lot of time is devoted to Rakesh chasing and hurting Satya through the night, which is an irony given how the film starts out as a critique of the skewed pop culture that inspired him. At best, it fluffs the opportunity to do a You , the self-satirical Netflix show about a woke and well-read stalker who thinks he’s better than the other incels of his generation. Rakesh keeps insisting he’s not crazy, but the film-making doesn’t buy into his delusions. The spell dissipates when we see him talking to a dead security guard, and especially when he breaks the fourth wall to address us for no particular reason. That the film opens with Satya doing the same (after her underwater sequence) is perhaps a riff on how modern-day female protagonists have more agency than old damsel-in-distress stereotypes. The track of her hapless fiance (Akshay Oberoi) reiterates this theme, except the result isn’t as clever or edgy as it should be. The cinematography tries its best to make the film look visually interesting – where the neon-lights flashing across walls of glass bleed into the office rooms – but the style is ultimately as vacant as the spaces. It’s still strange to see a corporate building completely devoid of people in the middle of Mumbai, no matter how late it is. 

Rakul Preet Singh is oddly repetitive as Satya. When she changes tone and decides to manipulate her captor, it feels like the character is playing a human being and not vice versa. I quite like Pavail Gulati, and as much as I enjoyed watching him go all Cape Fear (1991) on us, he deserves better than a movie that plays it so straight. He reminds me of Rajkummar Rao and Naveen Kasturia, a mix that puts him in the position to play disarming portraits of moral ambiguity. He even manages to pull off a tired “maybe he’s tied up” pun early on in the film when Satya wonders where her boyfriend is. It’s not his fault that the writing fails to look past the commercial tropes of darkness it set out to subvert. It’s not his fault the film flatters to deceive, or that it makes me feel as creepy as his character when I think of the title to the tune of ‘I Love You’ from Mr. India (1987). So what if it isn’t a 1990s hit? In the hands of Rakesh Oberoi, those iconic red glasses would become red flags.

Boss - I Love You Telugu Movie

The elegance of Nagarjuna combined with the freshness of the lissome Nayanthara act as props to reasonably creditable performance and present a strong case for “Boss” to be rated as a good one. On the other hand the slow second half and the predictable yet pitifully dragging last 20 minutes strongly pegs it to just an above average movie.

Yet it is an enjoyable fare. A Mills and Boons type romance, flavored with the charm of Nagarjuna, will find a lot of females making it a point to watch Boss despite the shortcomings in the movie. Not to speak of the thousands of Bosses and their personal secretaries who would definitely try to justify their peccadilloes. But the movie is strictly not about meaningless affairs; rather it’s about love that seeks to metamorphose into a life long enduring relationship only to be met with stiff resistance.

Boss is the story of a real estate baron Gopal Krishna (Nagarjuna) who is a sort of a paradox: honest in his dealings and yet rolls in cash. He hires Anuradha (Nayanthara), a girl with a heart for social service as his personal secretary. Anuradha is raised in an orphanage run by Chandra Mohan. She finds herself swathed in luxury now. A posh flat to stay, a chauffeured car and the proximity to the head honcho make her grow up in stature. Yet her head is perfectly screwed and she is well poised. But she cannot prevent herself from falling head over heels for the debonair boss.

While the boss is busy lavishing the secretary with praises and expensive gifts he is oblivious to the fact that she is in love with him. Nayanthara takes a wee bit long time to express her love for him. In the meanwhile an incident results in the clash of the egos of the boss and the secretary. The self-respecting secretary decides to quit and tenders her resignation letter. The boss in true M and B type asks for one month’s time. He hires another secretary (Poonam Bajwa) to add insult to injury. That’s just a part of the story.

The sad thing is that the rest of the story is very predictable. That’s what takes the gloss off the movie. Shreya makes a special appearance as the deceased wife of Nagarjuna. She is killed in Tsunami, mercifully not in a car accident. While V N Aditya can hog the credit for that he will find it difficult to answer some uneasy questions like: how come that Nayanthara who works as secretary knows everything except Nag’s past married life? Logically the topic should crop up sometime during office gupshups and the secretary aware of it.

The jokes are infantile. And how many times the average film buff has not seen the hero stopping the heroine from getting married to someone else?

Sorry, the director let go of a chance of a lifetime to cash on the flamboyance of Nagarjuna. He is guilty of losing grip in the second half. The movie should have stopped when it still continued and thankfully stopped finally after dragging for nearly 20 minutes.

All said and done, Boss is a treat for Nagarjuna fans. The first half of the movie is enjoyable and having known about the second half from us you can watch the movie without any disappointment.

Anil Ravipudi’s direction was applauded for presenting Balakrishna in a fresh and compelling light. His skillful integration of serious social themes, such as good touch and bad touch, into a commercial format demonstrated his exceptional filmmaking prowess.

The film, produced by Sahu Garapati and Harish Peddi under Shine Screens, was a testament to their commitment to quality. Bhagavanth Kesari emerged as a major hit during Dussehra 2023, effectively combining entertainment with meaningful lessons. The SIIMA award serves as a fitting tribute to its success and impact.
