According to them college is not as strict as school. I was full of excitement, inner joy and high hopes for a promising future. On the very first day, I got up early in the morning as I was much excited for the college life. I offered Dawn Prayer and took a hearty bath and got ready for the college. I could even do breakfast because of excitement. As soon as I stepped into the college, I felt like I have entered a new world. It was indeed a completely new world for me. The college had a wonderful building, lovely playgrounds and devoted Professors. The grand traditions, good mannerism, and liberal atmosphere made a great difference to my life. My first-day entry in college always fascinates me. My first day was an unforgettable experience of my educational life.

Some of them where in a jolly mood and wanted to befool the new-comers. They had worked out their own plans to make the new-comers indulge in strange actions. However, we decided to act together to avoid their practical jokes. Some of the senior were approaching us with an air of superiority. They were large in number so they made us subdue immediately. They asked us to do strange things like singing ridiculous songs and doing monkey pranks. The sense of self- respect did not allow me to act according to their wishes. Still they forced me to obey their orders. I felt a little humiliated but took it sportingly.

Meanwhile, a senior Professor of the college came to our rescue. He asked the boys to assemble in the hall were the Principal would address them. We want to the hall. The Principal addressed the students and advised them not to take part in politics at college. They should pay full attention to their studies and try their best to achieve their goal. Afterwards, a Professor guided us about our time-table and class rooms.

Our first period was of English. We want to the classroom and set on the benches. A Professor entered the room, the boys stood up greet him. He took our roll-call and entered the names of the students in his attitude register. He did not teach us but advised us about our future life. He stressed what we should not misuse the liberty here rather we should keep full use of the opportunity to achieve our end. Afterwards, we moved another room where our teacher in Arabic came. He delivered his lecture on the importance of Arabic language and advised us to come to the class with our books. Then there was no other period on that day. So, we want to the library and read some newspapers. We discussed the lecture of our teacher and decided to work very hard from the beginning to get through the examinations getting very good marks. Then we left the library, shook hands with one another and departed. I took a bus and reached my home. I found a considerable between the school life and that of college. I concluded that liberty or freedom must not be misused at all.

At the end of the first day, I returned home. When I was returning home, all the memories of my first day at College came to my mind. It was like a film. It had fun and fear. I remembered all the happenings and reached home with a smile. I had entered the college to gain knowledge and wisdom and to become a good citizen. Thanks, Almighty Allah I got what I wished. I wrote my memories in a special notebook.

In the end, I can say that college life is a beautiful blend of joys and memories. Right from my first day, every day spent in College was full of colorful events. Surely, College life is an ideal part of student life.

On my first day at the college, I was keen to learn more about the laboratory and conduct experiments. The notice board displayed the timetable for my class. Attending classes was something I did. There is a difference between the method of teaching at the college and at the school.

 A specialized teacher teaches each subject. Classes do not ask questions. Failure to learn a lesson does not result in a reprimand from the professor. This is simply a matter of reminding students they have responsibilities. The school has a homely atmosphere, so students lack access to snacks. Therefore, they feel the comfortable rhythm of life has changed and I returned home feeling a mixture of duty and liberty.

After attending the classes, I visited the different parts of the college. There was a large library at the college. Thousands of books were there, and I was astonished. I am proud of being a student of Govt. College. My college is one of the renowned institutions of Punjab. I am greatly impressed by the lovely building, the vast playgrounds and the charming greenery of the college. Its laboratories are well-equipped with instruments and apparatus. Students come here from all over Punjab. Every year, many of our students secure merits and positions in the Board Examination.

The staff of the College is highly qualified. The professors are kind, polite, co-operative and punctual. They are well-dressed and well-mannered. They guide the students in academic and sports activities regularly.

The college life is quite different from that of school. It is interesting and thrilling. Students enjoy full freedom and actively participate in co-curricular activities of the college. They are considered mature enough to act upon the college rules. My class fellows are very brilliant and hard working. I am enjoying myself very much in this great institution.

He then spoke on the subject of English. In the meantime, the period was over; hence we moved to another classroom.

In short, on that day, all of our teachers spoke about the importance of hard work and full attention to the studies. They advised us to study regularly.

My impression of the first day in college is still fresh in my mind. On that day, I felt pleasure and joy as my ambition to join the college had been fulfilled. I had already visited the college twice in the company of my elder brother. To watch the neat and clean as well as a peaceful atmosphere of the college, I had wished that one day I must join the college after completing my school education. Now that I myself was a student of the college, it appeared to be a wonderful and very charming place. I was experiencing a new experience and a new delight.

To conclude, my first day at college was a very good and nice day. It was a wonderful and interesting experience for me. That day, I was overjoyed because of being a college student. I can say that my first day at college was funny, humorous and interesting and I can never forget it. It will remain fresh in my mind as a good memory.

My First Day at College

Of all the enemies of people, the worst is a human itself. This is the way people think when they refuse to communicate with others, though they do not air it and maybe even don’t think of it directly in this precise form. But it is still there. And the less we try to consider and defy this feeling, the more strength the psychological communication difficulties gain, those in our minds. Some of us, however, are rather comfortable being locked up inside themselves. But when the life itself pushes you towards the situation that does not fit your psychological area of comfort, it is a right moment to reconsider your attitude, despite all the fears you may have.

Long before my first college day I had heard a story that shifted greatly my opinion of how the things in colleges are. It was about a guy who was, like me, adapting to college rules and regulations. It was about two weeks after the first of September when he had an unpleasant talk with his dean about antisemitism. He was accused of racism towards other students and not long after that he was expelled. In fact, he only had a badge on his bag that looked like a swastika, which people interpreted due to their private visions. No actual offense was caused to anyone directly. The guy was trying to defend himself from the false accusations, but futile. His only fault was a little self-expression that he allowed to himself, being good at ancient peoples’ symbolic traditions. The statement, which I derived from the store, was: watch out for everything and everyone; one step aside, and it is the end. In the matter of fact, I had been very gullible.

When it was my time to enter the college, I was utterly nervous. I was not very outgoing as a person, having my own reasons for that, and the story I had heard made me even more shut. On that day, my firm determination was not to give any sign of weakness. I was strained and reserved: everyone seemed to be a potential threat, which will carry my every word to higher echelons. So I hardly said a word to anybody, group mates included, although they seemed to be cheerful towards me. The first day was the day of acquaintances with professors, so students didn’t have to say much. In classrooms, I was taking places as close to the exit as possible. Unwittingly I was trying not to be noticed. I don’t know what I feared the most: expulsion or just a confrontation. In any case, I didn’t feel comfortable with anyone. I did not know yet whether I am going to be like that during all my college years.

It was not until the end of classes when the situation changed. When I was leaving the college, in the front yard I saw her. She caught my attention right away – the girl with multiple piercings and unnatural hair color. First I thought that she was just a passer-by, who occasionally stopped to read a book in a calm atmosphere. Curiosity gave me courage. I came up to her and started a talk. Being startled, I spoke right to the point without any pretext. In hindsight, I might have been a little rude with that. She appeared to be on her third year, and she had always been like that. And she did not look like anything I had thought of an average student. This fact embarrassed me, though she supposed to be the one to be embarrassed with what I asked her. During that conversation, I learned much about the college that I entered, about the attitude of staff and what professors pay attention to. It was that moment when the story that I had heard started to vanish from my head. The most peculiar fact that I remembered was the smile on her face while she was talking to me.

The conversation gave me a great deal to consider. Looking at that day with a new sight, I was able to see that all the reasons for caution were only in my head. Being taken up by overestimated dangers, I forgot to be rational. It was the lesson I learned that day. I can’t say that I changed entirely the next day. It takes time to rebuild one’s attitude, and I am no exception. Still, I’m proud of being able to overstep my fears.

The biggest dream of my life was about to come true. The biggest dream of my life was about to come true. And I had to go to college the first day. I got up early in the morning and ate quickly. I was so happy that I am now a college student. The family was also amazed at how eager I was to go to college. I put my new pen on top of my shirt pocket and took a register with me and left home to go to college. Along the way, I felt like I was flying in the air. There was a long line at the entrance to the college. When asked, it turned out that they are our seniors and are welcoming us.

But the fact was a little different. The seniors were not welcoming us they even snatched our things from us. And put a piece of paper on our backs with the word ‘fool’ written on it. And one sent me to the wrong class where I was ridiculed. The teachers in the class were very kind and told us the secrets of future success. He told us that the students come out of here as bright stars and the setting sun. So the harder you work, the more successful you will be. I returned home with the words of my teachers in my heart but I still remember that day at my college.

This exceptional and extra ordinary day will always be and all the time be remembered by all of us. Starting from stepping into the college gate to the orientation, taking first classes and also fooling day, all these moments and special events remained in our hearts till the end of your life. It is hard to forget your childhood and your teenage as well as your college days. They have their own charm. When we will be stepping into our professional and married lives, we will be remembering this golden time with utmost happiness and also with a smile on our faces.

Stepping Into The College Gate:

In the same way, my first day at college was also the special one. I took admission in Kinnaird College and it was a different and proud feeling for me because this institute is the top most institute and being myself calling a KCITE, it always give a smile on my face. The minute I stepped into this best college, I was very excited. Colorful dresses, modern girls, superb building, lush green trees and flowers were around me.

College Ambiance:

It was the perfect college ambiance that anyone can think about. I heard this before that it was the environment and ambiance of Kinnaird College that groom the personality of the girl and this statement was totally justifying when I looked around myself. Amazing view was there, separate blocks were there for each and every study program. I, being the student of F.SC, my block was nearby so I do not have to walk that much.

Orientation:

In the first go, I attended orientation. It was a massive and huge crowd in the Haladia Hall. Principal and Vice principal addresses with the students and told them that it should be the proud moment for them that they are now the part of such prestigious institution.

 Fooling Day:

The minute we stepped out from the Haladia hall, seniors caught us and make us to dance and sing. It has been a history that first day at college will always bee the fooling day. Some of the seniors took some money from us but at the end of the day they returned it too. The fooling day orientation and attending some of the classes, taking eatables from KC cafteria, it was an enjoyable and a never forgetting day for me.

An Ode to My First-Year Dorm Room

I’ve lived in the same house all my life and have always had the same bedroom. Over the years, my room became somewhat of a sacred space to me — the place where I was the most comfortable. Moving into college, living — for the first time — in a space away from my childhood home, I was terrified that I’d be unable to replicate the comfort of my childhood bedroom.

However, upon arriving at Little Hall — the home of my first-year dorm within Mathey Residential College — my fears were quickly whisked away. As my mother and I unpacked half of my life into the room that would be my new home for the next nine months, a kind-eyed woman and her curly-haired daughter poked their heads into my spanking new dorm. “Hi!” the woman said. “This is my daughter, Marlie.” And with a grin from Marlie and a handshake, this new and strange building began to feel more like home. As the first few weeks of the fall semester passed, I got to know my other neighbors, and we became friends. We often exchanged complaints about the heat or our new workload as we passed each other in the hall. We’d discuss our courses as we brushed our teeth in the mornings. We’d knock on each other’s doors when we discovered a bug that was too scary to kill ourselves. Although the beginning of college was scary, living near friends put my mind at ease. 

Simultaneously, I was beginning to create the creature comforts of home within my dorm room. I filled my wall with photos of friends, family, and hometown memories. I organized a bookshelf of all my favorite books. I set up a speaker where I could listen to music as I prepared for the day. I stocked the room up with all my favorite snacks. Slowly but surely, my dorm room became my favorite place to be. After a long day of classes or socializing, I was always most excited to return to my cozy dorm. I had made it feel like home.

I had also learned how to manage my own space. Cleaning my room and refrigerator weekly became a fun and cathartic ritual. When I found that the lights weren’t working correctly or the door was squeaking unnecessarily, I became accustomed to seeking out the facilities resources that could remedy these problems. I learned to kill bugs by myself (a huge accomplishment for a girl with a massive fear of insects) and would host friends from out of town in my new space. I began to feel very independent.

However, after the fall semester concluded, as I returned to my childhood home for a month for winter break, I worried that all of the comfort and ease I fostered would disappear by the time I returned to Princeton in January. But this was not the case. Coming back to my dorm after a month felt like coming home in a different way. All the independence, memories, and comfort I had created over the fall semester washed over me as I stepped through the door. Undeniably, my dorm room was my favorite space on campus. I looked forward to hallway and bathroom chats with my neighbors, hosting friends in my dorm, decompressing from a long day with a good movie and the comfort of my bed, releasing the week’s stress as I cleaned, and more. Saying goodbye to friends and professors at the end of the spring semester was difficult, but saying goodbye to my first-year dorm felt impossible. It had become the space where I was the most comfortable.

Looking back, I know now that although my first-year dorm room was indeed a magical space, what made it most memorable to me were the things I learned about myself living there. The comfort, independence, and memories I had gained residing in this space would not disappear as I moved into a new dorm the following year. They will always be a part of me. What I’ve learned now is that living in a new space allows you to become a new version of yourself, meet new people, and have new experiences. Thus, I’m genuinely ecstatic for the new magic my sophomore-year dorm will bring.
